Jeff Bezos went looking for discarded rocket engines at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. His team found a piece of history instead.

The Amazon founder financed an underwater search for NASA rockets abandoned after launch. The expedition spent years scanning the ocean floor with advanced sonar equipment. By 2013, the team successfully brought two engines to the surface.

Researchers carefully inspected the salvaged components. The identification numbers matched records from the Apollo 11 mission. These were the very engines that lifted Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins toward the moon in 1969.

The rockets had rested beneath the Atlantic for over forty years. Salt water and pressure had taken a heavy toll on the metal. Even in damaged condition, the engines represented one of the most significant archaeological finds in space exploration history.

A billionaire's hobby project uncovered the machines that carried humans to another world. 🌊🚀🌕😮
