That night belonged to Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, which won Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress (Aishwarya Rai), and several other awards. Aishwarya couldn’t attend, so Bhansali collected the trophy for her.
