An ode to the Kite Flying Rituals of Pre Winters or Hemant Rtu of Lucknow!
Post Deepawali, the Lucknow of Old days, used to be on the rooftops with Kites, as an everyday ritual of the evenings!

Evenings started at 3:30pm typically, and meant rounds and rounds of tea, gossip, and kite flying…all done on terraces.
Some dear aunt would make pakodas and someone would fry papads…the Kite Flying would go on till 6pm at least, when it became so dark that it was pointless to continue…
The match would again begin the next day.

Such slow pursuits and slow days still exist in some parts of the city, even today.
