"A WORLD BETWEEN BLACK-AND-WHITE"

Without color to guide the eye, the shadow becomes a primary building material. Sunlight hitting a white wall creates a canvas for the "architecture of shadows," where the movement of the sun throughout the day changes the visual composition of the building.

Unlike trendy colors (like "Millennial Pink" or "Forest Green"), black and white never goes out of style.

​A major trend in modern black-and-white architecture is the use of Shou Sugi Ban, a traditional Japanese method of charring wood. The resulting deep, silvery-black finish is not only beautiful and textural but also naturally resistant to fire, rot, and insects. It provides a perfect organic counterpoint to crisp white modern materials.
