Bro seriously what is even happening with the FIFA World Cup 2026 right now?? Like it hasn't even started properly and the internet is literally melting down over the last 12 hours. If you think this is just gonna be regular football you are completely wrong. This year is pure chaos.
First of all who decided 48 teams was a good idea?? 48 teams!! That is freaking massive. They split them into 12 groups of four and honestly it’s gonna be like 104 matches. Like bro players are gonna literally collapse on the pitch from exhaustion. Some people are saying it’s great because smaller countries get a chance but let’s be real it’s just gonna make the group stages drag on forever.
And don't even get me started on the ticket prices. FIFA has completely lost its mind. Top tier tickets for the final match are officially going for like $33,000. Thirty three thousand dollars!! Who has that kind of money?? And the scalpers on resale websites are making it even worse someone literally listed a ticket for millions of dollars today as a joke or something. It’s disgusting honestly. Football used to be for regular working class people and now you need to sell a kidney just to sit in the stadium.
Oh and the politics is just crazy this time around. Since it's in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, everyone is calling it the Trump World Cup. There's already rumors and betting markets saying there is an 86% chance Trump is gonna show up at the final in New Jersey. But because of all the crazy US visa rules Iran literally just boycotted the whole drawing event in Washington because their guys didn't get visas. Like the matches haven't even kicked off and countries are already fighting.
Even the gaming stuff is getting weird. Hyundai just announced they are putting World Cup stuff into Fortnite and Rocket League starting tomorrow. Like they are trying so hard to appeal to Gen Z kids with Shakira singing the anthem again.
But honestly at the end of the day I'm still gonna watch it. It’s the last dance for Messi and Ronaldo. Messi is trying to get one more trophy and Ronaldo is probably playing his last World Cup ever. Plus England is trying to break their 60 year curse again which always ends in tears anyway. It’s messy, it’s a corporate cash grab, and it's totally bloated but the drama is just too good to ignore.
