Would you love wearing Khadi for the summers?

Posted • Wearing some new-new and something old-new.

A fine count, chemically yarn dyed, silk handloom ( from Bengal) crop top and yoked, gathered skirt set gifted by young and new label .rama , teamed with a cotton duster coat thrifted from a second hand store in Kyoto last year.

The versatility and flattering cut of the set ( reversal crop top, with naturally dyed Kalamkari print on the reverse, that can be worn either sides, as a top, or a sari blouse), with the look being diverse to be dressed up or down, also being handlooms, was attractive to me.

The reverse top look( images 4 & 5), is teamed with the same thrifted cotton duster and a silk, home washed countless times, pajama over 10 years young, by . Something I’ve also dressed up, worn out, slept in, almost retired, returned back to and am re-wearing for outings again.

RaMa is for RAjeshwari MAvuri, a young entrepreneur from Hyderabad. Her dream is to promote Indian handlooms and handicrafts as artistic products and as the subtle luxury they are. “I’d always think, what could I do to position an Indian weaver on par with the Italian tailor or a craftsperson?”.

The lable only used the finest of handlooms from across the country in chic, feminine cuts for a global audience.
