How to change Programs ICONS in Win10?
In Windows 10, you can change program shortcuts' icons to customize the appearance of your desktop or Start Menu. Here's how to do it:
Method 1: Using Built-In Icons
Find the Shortcut: Locate the program shortcut for which you want to change the icon. This could be on your desktop, in the Start Menu, or in a folder.
Right-Click the Shortcut: Right-click on the shortcut and select "Properties" from the context menu.
Change Icon: In the Properties window, go to the "Shortcut" tab. You will see a button labeled "Change Icon." Click on it.
Select an Icon: A window will pop up displaying a list of available icons. You can select one of these icons or click "Browse" to navigate to a location where you have a custom icon file (usually an .ico file). Once you've selected an icon, click "OK."
Apply and OK: After choosing the new icon, click "Apply" and then "OK" in the Properties window.
Check the Shortcut: Your program shortcut should now display the new icon.
Method 2: Creating a Custom Shortcut with a Custom Icon
If you want to create a new shortcut with a custom icon:
Create a Shortcut: Right-click on your desktop or in the folder where you want to create the new shortcut. From the context menu, select "New" and then "Shortcut."
Choose the Program: In the "Create Shortcut" wizard, you'll be asked to enter the location of the program you want the shortcut for. You can enter the program's executable file (e.g., .exe), or you can browse to it.
Name the Shortcut: Give the shortcut a name and click "Finish."
Change the Icon: Now, you can follow the steps mentioned earlier in "Method 1" to change the icon for this new shortcut.
Note: If you're using a custom icon (not from the default list), make sure it's in the .ico file format. You may also use .dll files for icons if they contain multiple icon resources. If you use a custom icon file, browse to its location when changing the icon.
Changing program icons is purely a cosmetic change and doesn't affect the functionality of the program. It's a great way to personalize your desktop or Start Menu.
