A SOLDIER IS NEVER OFF DUTY.
This is the story of Capt. Manjinder Singh Bhinder who saved 150+ lives while his son and wife were charred to death. This story will move your conscience.
13th June 1997. Board exam results were out. Young boys and girls were celebrating their victory. A super hit movie Border was in theatres. Upahar Cinema was jam packed with young students. Among them were Capt. Bhinder, his wife Jyot-Roop and his 4 year old son Ruskin.
Fire broke out inside the theatre. The fire exits were all locked from outside. Trying to find an exit, Capt. Maninder's son and wife caught fire. He tried to save them but both of them burnt to death.
Capt. Manjinder had no time to mourt. He started evacuating the other and saved nearly 150 lives before he also caught fire and could not survive.
The story doesn't end here. The Indian Army declared his death “attributable to military service”. But the then government of India refused to acknowledge his death as service to the nation as he was "Off Duty". His parents fought the case in the Delhi High court and this is when the Delhi High Court in a landmark Judgement declared that "A Soldier is Never Off Duty."
Remembering, the bravest of the brave, Young National Horse Riding Champion, Capt. Manjinder Singh Bhinder on the day he attained Veergati, while saving civilians.

Man O Man!
When without money,
eats vegetables at home;
When has money,
eats the same vegetables in a fine restaurant.
When without money, rides bicycle;
When has money rides the same ‘exercise machine’.
When without money walks to earn food
When has money, walks to burn fat;
Man O Man! Never fails to deceive thyself!
When without money,
wishes to get married;
When has money,
wishes to get divorced.
When without money,
wife becomes secretary;
When has money,
secretary becomes wife.
When without money, acts like a rich man;
When has money acts like a poor man.
Man O Man! Never can tell the simple truth!
Says share market is bad,
but keeps speculating;
Says money is evil,
but keeps accumulating.
Says high Positions are lonely,
but keeps wanting them.
Says gambling & drinking is bad,
but keeps indulging;
Man O Man! Never means what he says and never says what he means..
Praying to God for 3 minutes takes too much time but
watching a movie for 3 hours doesn't.
Rs.20 seems too much to give a beggar but it seems okay when its given as tip at a fancy restaurant.
Two poor starving kids sitting on the pavement weren't given even a slice of Bread but a painting of them sold for lakhs of Rupees.
Life is not about what you couldn't do so far,
it's about what you can still do.
