⭐️ Goodwill is an intangible asset that puts the firm at an advantageous position which results in higher profits.
⭐️ Goodwill arises either due to the efforts of the management or at the time of purchase of a business when more purchase consideration is paid by the firm than the worth of net assets acquired.
⭐️Accounting Standard (AS-26 : Intangible Assets) states that Goodwill should not be accounted for in the books of accounts unless some consideration is paid for it.
⭐️ Therefore, Only Purchased Goodwill is shown on the Asset side of the Balance Sheet of the firm.
