We fondly remember & pay floral tribute to Late Ratneshwar Nath Sahay on his 113th Birth Anniversary.
Shri R. N. Sahay (03 September 1907 - 18 June 1988) was a fourth generation lawyer, a connoisseur in Civil Law, an Eminent Jurist & Educationist of unified Bihar with excellent court craft and advocacy who represented a sweep of high profile cases in the unified State of Bihar and also before the Supreme Court of India. His distinguished merit had been duly testified by legends like Sir Courtney Terrell, the Chief Justice for Bihar & Orissa and Knighthood. Justice. Jwala Prasad, Rai Bahadur, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the First President of India and many more in the early 1930s.
Shri Sahay belonged to an illustrious family of Lawyers, Politicians, Bureaucrats and Professionals which include Late Munshi Heera Lal Saheb-Government Pleader appointed by the British Crown in 1861, Great Revolutionary Leader Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (J.P), Mahamaya Prasad Sinha-Former Chief Minister of Bihar, Baleshwar Prasad-Indian Ambassador and Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Dr. G.B. Sahay-Father of Forensic Science and Medical Jurisprudence in Bihar.
His prominent personality was recognized all over the legal fraternity and apart from carrying out active legal practice, he also held other eminent positions in esteemed organizations including the Dean of the Faculty of Law at Bihar University, Charter President Rotary and also established the famous G.S.Law College in Bihar as its Founder Principal.
He was also a big proponent and pioneer leader of the Scout Movement and had authored leading books on the subject.
Many of the juniors from his chambers have become eminent lawyers, judges and served at other important positions in the field of law.
RRSA is proud to institute and organize the prestigious R.N.Sahay National Legal Essay Competition in India. This initiative received huge accolade from topmost legal luminaries across the globe.
His towering personality, legacy, dream and vision lives on, and it continues to inspire and motivate all of us.
