At the ‘Global Policy Dialogue on Rangelands Governance, Mobility and Pastoralism’ in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, FES joined partners from across regions to share local lessons on pastoral communities and advance dialogue on resilient livelihoods and sustainable rangeland management.
Together with MARAG and Land Forum India, FES showcased experiences from India's pastoral landscapes, highlighting commons-based livestock systems, women in pastoralism, and community champions working on stewardship and pasture governance.
The case study by Rainfed Livestock Network (RLN) received recognition at the dialogue for its efforts to strengthen extensive livestock systems through collaborative and multi-stakeholder approaches.
Held as part of the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) 2026, the dialogue brought together governments, researchers, practitioners, and pastoral organisations to strengthen support for pastoral communities and build momentum towards future global discussions, including UNCCD COP17.
