ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead and build a team of data scientist to deep dive into the data and answer complex business questions.

· Explore and extract insights from massive dataset of geospatial, behavioural, economic, and the extraction of 3rd party data, to power a credit scoring model that can make financing decisions instantly, accurately and in fairness to the end user.

· Leveraging data to help the business answer questions around further expansion, products, user acquisition/retention/churn and any other business goals that can be addressed through data insights.

· Build, validate, test, and deploy machine learning or other data science models to predict and influence the behaviour of consumers with the goal of optimizing system efficiency of the platform.

· Develop a deep behavioural understanding and intuition of users and translate these intuitions into actionable, creative insights that produces heuristic or classification models to identify system violators.

· Manage and own the entire end-to-end lifecycle of designing models, working with Engineering for implementation, scaling, to maintenance and enforcement.

· Work independently or in a team to solve complex problem statements.

· Test and validate these insights via rapid experimentation and deployment.

· Interface with business & operation teams to formulate solutions & product changes informed by your findings.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

· Experience in leading a team of data scientists, preferably in a startup or tech company

· PhD/Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Operation Research, Computer Science or equivalent

· 8+ years relevant industry experience (preferably in an Internet or ‘Direct to Consumer’ company with high velocity data and scaled controlled experiments)

· Strong statistical knowledge - ideally having utilized controlled experiments in the industry

· Experience solving prediction, classification, reinforcement problems using applied statistics & machine learning

· Experience with Data Science / scripting / programming tools, including but not limited to Python, R or SQL

· Experience in Spark (Scala / pySpark) would be a plus

· Strong Product sense

· Self-Starter. Ability to work independently and drive own projects.

Dubai – Full Time

An exciting fintech start-up from Dubai is looking for Full-stack Developer (Ruby on Rails). Company is providing digital and mobile payment solutions to the Hospitality industry - In other words saving a lot of time for customers to pay their bills in restaurants by replacing the old paper bill by a mobile payment via a QR code scan. Simple, better and way faster!

Responsibilities:

• Set the roadmap and vision for the future of our products. Act as an active contributor to the leadership team.
• Be proficient in Ruby on Rails.
• Maintain a robust developer backlog, breaking projects into attainable milestones with MVP deliveries.
• Be able to drive an agile ex*****on process from conception, requirements gathering, UX design, development, and testing through to launch.
• Ensure that Customer POS systems are technically assessed and ready for integration before they go into delivery.
• Own the POS Integration Strategy including the entire technical relationship with POS vendors and other POS integration partners.
• Analyze and decide which part of the Product build and the Integrations requirements need to be externalized to third party partners.
• Be a future leader. Building up the Product team as we grow in the UAE and internationally.

You will need to have:

• 5+ years as a full stack developer (with a strong experience in Ruby on rails)
• 2+ years of solutions architect experience (or similar) building and overseeing integrations with POS and Payment partners in hospitality and/or retail industries.
• An outcome focused person with a track record of taking products from ideation through hyper-growth.
• Ability to quickly learn new software systems and frameworks.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• A successful track record of partnering with engineering teams to build API systems and frameworks, with a deep understanding of API technologies.
• Fluent English.
• The ability to work well with remote teams and third party partners across different time zones
