As part of our commitment to community safety, Wicklow Local Community Safety Partnership encourages everyone to enjoy our beaches responsibly this summer. ๐
Wicklow County Council lifeguards are on duty at beaches across the county during the bathing season, helping to keep swimmers safe. Please remember that outside of lifeguarded hours, beaches are not supervised.
Simple steps can make a big difference: swim between the red & yellow flags, supervise children at all times, avoid alcohol, and never swim alone. Always check conditions before entering the water.
Working together, we can ensure our beaches remain safe, welcoming spaces for all.
Wicklow County Council provides lifeguard services during the bathing season.
Lifeguards are on duty at five beaches โ Arklow Cove, Brittas Bay South, Brittas Bay North, Wicklow Harbour, Greystones South Beach, Bray promenade South and North.
โข Daily in June (as resources allow)
โข Daily in July and August
โข First two weekends of September
Lifeguarded hours:
โข 11am โ 7pm (weekdays)
โข 11am โ 7pm (weekends & bank holidays)
โ ๏ธ Outside of these times, beaches are not supervised โ please take extra care:
Swim between the lifeguard Red & Yellow flags or in front of the Lifeguard Station.
โข Always supervise children
โข Avoid alcohol before or during water activities
โข Check weather and tides before you go
โข Wear a lifejacket for water sports
โข Never swim alone
โข Be aware of currents โ if caught in a rip, swim parallel to shore
โข In an emergency, call 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard
Follow guidance from Water Safety Ireland and stay safe this summer
