BEAWARE OF SCAMMERS AND PHISHING E-MAILS AND TEXT MESSAGES!!

There has been an increase in online scam with victims across both home users and business users. A few methods are used frequently:

1. A business’ supplier's E-Mail is infiltrated, the scammer can read all correspondence between the supplier and the key account person of the business.

The scammer will register a new domain name very similar to the supplier's domain name and sending E-Mails to inform the Business that their bank account has changed and is demanding transfers of a large invoice made to the new account.

2. A fake E-Mail from unknown source pretending to be a Business's I.T. or E-Mail hosting supplier and demanding the users to log in to their E-Mail account to re-activate their E-Mail account.

3. Scan text alert from delivery companies, banks and other institutes.

AREA'S TO CHECK:

1. The Source of the E-Mail, by double clicking on the incoming E-Mail person's name, it will show their real E-Mail address. If not sure, check with your I.T. supplier.

2. Open the Login link from the text message to confirm the URL (Universal Resource Locator - The Web Address i..e www.dpd.ie)

✅Valid URL looks like: www.dpd.ie/track etc
❌Fake URL looks like: www.lookslikedpdbutnotdpd.in/sign-in
❌Fake URL2 looks like: www.bannkofireland.com/sign-in (notice the 2 Ns in Bank)

Hi All

Thank you for all the likes, it has been awhile since we posted anything. So here is some tips below about Windows 7

There was a lot talk about Microsoft Ending Support for Windows 7, don't panic!

1. Microsoft only ends support of Windows 7, it does not mean you cannot use the Operating System anymore, you can still use it as normal.

2. Ending Support meaning they will not answer any queries regarding Windows 7 (Compatibility, Software Development etc). No one calls Microsoft anyway if you have a problem, your first point of contact is always your local computer store or IT department.

3. They will not develop any security patches anymore. However, there will be a large patch coming out for Windows 7 in about 5 months time, you have to manually download and run this Update.

So overall, you should not panic, and Windows 7 is still one of the best Operating System Microsoft ever released!
