At 8 years old, Davis was falling behind at school — and no one could work out why.

A cataract had been growing in each eye. Dense enough to cloud his world entirely. In class, he couldn't read the blackboard. He covered his eyes just to focus, and bent low over his books to write. At home, the struggle followed him.

"I couldn't see my food or even tie my shoes," Davis said. His mother watched and prayed for a miracle to save her son's sight.

Through CBM's support, Davis was seen at Mengo Eye Department in Uganda, where surgeons removed the dense cataracts from both eyes. The operation gave him his sight back — and a new start.

Today, Davis is back at school, confident and keeping up. "You have brought joy to my family," his mother says.

Because of CBM supporters, Davis's future is bright once more.

What difference can a regular gift make?

For Mariya and Ikilima, it meant the difference between a lifetime of blindness—and a future full of possibility.

Monthly support helps CBM reach children earlier, provide timely treatment, and ensure no child is left behind because of poverty.
