EVEN IF YOUR VOICE TREMBLES - A visual exploration of shame.
Over 6 months, Will St Leger has been listening to the stories of people living in Berlin, in particular about their experiences and relationship with shame. Among the many interviews he had carried out, the artist had chosen to present the stories of the following: a s*x worker, a s*xual abuser survivor, a trans man, a person with eating disorder, a person living with HIV, a person with s*xual fe**sh for consuming faeces, a non-binary femme man, a drug user and a p**n actor.
The artist had listened to the impact of toxic shame on people’s lives through anonymous conversations with the participants. Shame is often learned early in life and in later life, manifests itself into behaviour patterns and coping mechanisms. The artist‘s intention is to gather, record, present, process and transform those stories of shame and create something physical.
