Created a custom font called 'The Dirty Protest Font', I will be using it for my art projects going forward. I have used 'Illustrator' adobe software + 'Calligraphr' free online software to take my pen/indian ink sketches from paper to being TTF and OTF (Font Files). OTF and TTF files for example are the background files that allow you to type out your CV in Microsoft Office.
A TTF stands for TrueType Font and an OTF stands for Open Type Font. By creating a custom font it makes your digital work distinct from others. Plus it gets around any copywrite concerns when using other installs/plugins from sites like 1001Fonts and Da Font.
Don't get me wrong this took a lot of work to create my custom font. (101Glyphs), thats 101 ink sketches drawn, edited, and eventually processed. About a month's work, but it's possible. A fun project with a goal to add to my animation practice, make my vids stand out and to not sweat the small text in these copywrite license agreements.
The take away from this project: Calligraphr is a free online font making software that works up to 60 Glyphs(free) only 10euro for one month of unlimited Glyphs. (For me it was worth it). Yes you can take your hand drawn images/text from paper to digital (would you want to do it the hard way in 2026?) Adobe illustrator come on you dinosaur be cheaper. In a world now taken over with Ai you only have the old school artists that want you.
