Recent studies have found that 48% of Irish pregnant mums intend on breastfeeding until the weaning age (between 5-8 months), however only 15% of mothers made it that far! Thankfully, 26% of new mums who gave birth during the COVID-19 months have now hit the 5-8 month milestone. This should be commended, even at this difficult time we have seen an increase in mums breastfeeding! Support is always out there for mums; contacting your local breastfeeding support group is one of the most important things mums can do to reach this milestone. Well done to all the mums out there 👏
