Mondello Masters Round 4-6 Race Report.💨

A challenging two days at last weekend’s Masters Superbike Championship round 4-6.
Very unpredictable weather all weekend left us with tough tyre decisions.
I missed qualifying Saturday morning as we ran out of time changing wheels due to changing conditions just before the session.
Missing qualifying meant I had to start at the back of the grid for Race 1 (28th position).

Race 1 - First wet day out on the 600, my only concern was to bring the bike back the right side up. Due to very wet conditions it was difficult to make ground. I was very unhappy with the gearing set up on the bike, so knew work would have to be done before Race 2.

Race 2 - After making adjustments to the gearing set up I was much more confident going into Race 2. Unfortunately, I was put to the back of the grid again. This was due to missing the 3 minute pit exit as we were changing wheels again as the rain began to fall.
I knew I had to push hard to make some ground through the pack. With a good start off the line, I finished the race 9th in class.

Race 3- With a lot of confidence gained in Race 2 and the gearing change making the world of a difference, I was ready to push hard for Race 3. Another good start off the grid helped in gaining a few positions. A few battles throughout meant that I finished the race 5th in class.

A lot learned from the bike over the weekend and confidence gained on it. Happy with the results considering the set backs☔️
Ready for Rounds 7-9 on the 27th and 28th June when we will push that bit harder💪

Round one of the Ulster superbike championship. ✅
With the original first round in bishopscourt on Saturday cancelled due to the storm, our season kicked off on Easter Monday in kirkistown.
Being my first day out on the new zx6r and first time sitting on a bike since I had knee surgery 4 weeks ago my main aim was to just get comfortable with the bike and not push too hard to bring me and the bike home in one piece🤌
Lap times came down throughout the day while making slight adjustments to the bike.
Well organised event with great racing.
Lot of racing delayed due to crashes but all considered.. a very positive first round.
The bike went flawless, a lot learned from the bike which I can take into my first round in the mondello masters and push that bit harder in just 4 weeks time ✊

For the coming year I will be racing on a well built/ maintained ZX6R purchased from Chawkie Racing.
Competing in the Supersport Cup class in the Mondello Masters and Ulster Superbike Championship.

12th 13th September | Motorcycle Road Racing Returns to Athea

We are excited to announce finally the long awaited return of motorcycle road racing to Athea with the South West Road Races taking place on 12th 13th September.

After far too long away the roads of Athea will once again echo with the sound speed and spectacle that only real road racing can deliver. Two full days of high octane action on fast demanding public roads backed by passionate crowds and an unbeatable atmosphere.
