🏡✨Hello Tiny House Enthusiasts,

I created a post a month ago on Reddit that sparked a really insightful discussion. A lot of valuable experiences and perspectives have been shared through the questions and responses, especially around regulations, permits, and real-life situations (which can vary a lot depending on the area).

I thought it might be helpful to share it here as well 👇

Feel free to check it out, and if you have any questions, you can also ask them here. I’ll do my best to help based on my experience 🙂

Building permits don’t have to be confusing 🏗️

In this video, I break down how building permits work, using a real case example from Québec, Canada, but the process is surprisingly similar in many places.

If you’re planning to build (tiny house or not), understanding permits early can save you time, money, and stress.

🏡Tiny house on wheels = design first, freedom later

A lot of people focus on the dream, but forget the road.

If your design does not respect legal limits, width, height, weight, length, you cannot just fix it later. Even a small excess can make your build illegal to tow or unsafe at highway speed.

You end up with something hard to move, expensive to modify, or worse, dangerous.

To stay road legal, you need to think about it from the very beginning:

-Proper dimensions within legal limits
-A trailer, axles, and brakes rated for the real final weight
-Balanced weight distribution for stability on the road
-Approved lights and visibility for safety
-A tow vehicle that can handle the full load, including water and furniture

This is where many builds fail, not during construction, but during planning.

Ignoring this is not just about fines, it affects control, braking distance, and overall safety.

You do not design a tiny house and hope it fits the road, you design it for the road from day one.
