Thousands of Muslims performed the 1447 Hijri Eid al-Adha prayer in congregation at Lagoon Beach, Ancol, Jakarta (May 27). The stretch of sandy shoreline turned into a sea of worshippers who had arrived since early morning to take part in the prayer at the coastal tourist area. This year’s Eid al-Adha prayer was held after the Government declared 1 Zulhijah 1447 Hijri to fall on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
The chanting of takbir echoed across the beach area as the prayer was conducted solemnly and orderly. Worshippers filled rows stretching across the sand while carrying their own prayer mats and prayer equipment. A deeply religious atmosphere could be felt even before the prayer began, with many families arriving together with children and relatives to worship in the open-air setting.
