Coastal vulnerability is no longer just a technical topic โ itโs becoming a daily reality for planners, practitioners and local authorities. As pressures on coastal areas grow, so does the need for practical tools, shared knowledge and regional understanding.
To support this work, PAP/RAC is launching the training course on

Building coasts requires more than data
As coastal areas continue to change, understanding how land cover is evolving โ and what that means for ecosystems and communities โ is essential.
This is where Common Indicator 25 (CI25) comes in, providing a harmonised framework to assess coastal land cover change across the region.
Through targeted capacity-building initiatives, PAP/RAC works with national experts to ensure that CI25 is not only applied but translated into informed coastal planning and action.
As part of the Child Project 2.1, we developed a technical manual offering step-by-step guidance for calculating CI25 using free and open-source software and open data.
