A Call to Rescue Our Nation – Guyana
Brian Backer, W.I.N. Political Candidate and Patriot

My Fellow Guyanese:
I speak to you not as a politician chasing power, but as a patriot fueled by love for our homeland—Guyana—now strangled by corruption, deception, and incompetence under the PPP/C regime. I did not choose this path for position or privilege. I chose it because I can no longer stand by as a government betrays its people.

As Steve Biko said, “It is better to die for an idea that will live than to live for an idea that will die.” I am fighting for a living idea—a united, thriving, and free Guyana.

The PPP/C hasn’t governed—it has exploited. It hasn’t served—it has preyed. No longer a party, it is a parasitic force feeding on the hopes of the poor. While you struggle to afford bread, they feast, masked by fake “progress.” But we see through the lies. And as Arundhati Roy reminds us, once you see it, you can’t unsee it. Silence becomes complicity. I will not stay silent. Guyana deserves better.

Ask yourself: Is your community safer? Are your children getting a quality education? Can you shop without fear? No. The PPP/C shattered its promises. Jobs became handouts. Environmental pledges turned into polluted rivers and sold-out resources. Transparency became shadowy deals and buried scandals. This is not leadership—it is theft.

Yet our spirit remains unbroken. On September 1, 2025, we have a choice: cling to a decaying regime, or rise to rebuild our homeland with dignity and vision.

I believe in you—the teachers, farmers, market vendors, youth. I believe in our collective strength. “A single bracelet does not jingle.” But together, we will ring a symphony of hope.

Join us. Let’s dismantle corruption and build a government that listens, serves, and empowers. A government that values every worker, uplifts the youth, and honours our ancestors.

An African proverb says: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” Let’s go far—together.

Let’s reclaim Guyana. Let’s write a new chapter—one of justice, prosperity, and pride.
Come September 1, your vote is your voice. Let’s raise it and set Guyana free.

WIN Party Demands International Action Against Political Discrimination by Guyanese Banks

Georgetown, Guyana – The WIN Party today issued an urgent appeal to the United Nations, condemning what it describes as “political persecution in its rawest form” following the closure of bank accounts, cancellation of loans, and denial of financial services to its members and candidates by several leading banks in Guyana.

The institutions named include the Bank of Nova Scotia, the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, the New Building Society, and Demerara Bank. According to the WIN Party, these actions have no legal or regulatory basis and amount to discrimination solely on the grounds of political affiliation.

“These banks have weaponized financial services against ordinary citizens,” the WIN Party stated. “Teachers who served faithfully for decades can no longer access their salaries. Candidates chosen by the people have been stripped of their accounts. Small business owners, including single mothers, are being forced into dangerous cash-only survival.”

The Party emphasized that the closures are not only unjust but violate international law. Guyana is bound by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Articles 2 and 7) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (Articles 25 and 26), which guarantee freedom from discrimination and the right to participate fully in political life.

The WIN Party is calling on the United Nations to:
• Publicly condemn these discriminatory practices.
• Demand the immediate reinstatement of all affected accounts.
• Ensure the Government of Guyana and financial institutions end political discrimination.
• Deploy observers to investigate and report.
• Provide alternative financial access until rights are fully restored.

“This is not only about bank accounts,” the Party declared. “It is about freedom itself. When a teacher cannot collect her salary, when a mother risks her safety to run a business, when a candidate loses honest work for belonging to a political party, democracy itself is wounded.”

The WIN Party pledged to continue raising this issue locally, regionally, and internationally until justice is secured.
End.

WIN Party Calls on CARICOM to Act Against Political Discrimination in Guyana

Georgetown, Guyana – The WIN Party today urgently appealed to the CARICOM Secretariat, highlighting systematic political discrimination by major banks in Guyana against its members and candidates.

According to the Party, the Bank of Nova Scotia, Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, New Building Society, and Demerara Bank have closed accounts, cancelled loans, and denied services to WIN Party supporters with no legal or regulatory justification, motivated solely by political bias.

“This is not just about bank accounts,” said a spokesperson for the WIN Party. “Teachers cannot access their salaries. Candidates chosen by the people have lost their accounts and jobs. Small business owners are forced to operate outside the banking system, risking their livelihoods and safety. Democracy itself is under threat.”

The Party emphasized that these actions violate international and regional commitments, including:
• Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Articles 2 and 7) – equality and protection from discrimination.
• International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (Articles 25 and 26) – the right to participate in public life and equal protection under the law.
• CARICOM Charter of Civil Society (1997) – which guarantees political rights and non-discrimination for citizens of member states.
The WIN Party has called on CARICOM to:
1) Publicly condemn the discriminatory practices.
2) Ensure immediate reinstatement of all affected accounts.
3) Engage with the Government of Guyana and banks to end political persecution.
4) Deploy observers to investigate and report.
5) Guarantee regional safeguards for fair financial access until citizens’ rights are fully restored.
“This is about the fundamental right of every citizen to work, bank, and participate in democracy without fear,” the Party concluded.
End.
