THE RIO 2016 ORGANIZING COMMITTEE ANNOUNCED THE DATES FOR THE START OF THE OLYMPIC TORCH RELAY. LET'S JOIN US THIS AMAZING CELEBRATION!!

The torch will be lit in the Greek city of Olympia, the birthplace of the Ancient Olympic Games, on 21 April 2016 before being handed over to Rio 2016 organizers on 27 April after a tour around Greece.
The Olympic flame will visit 83 cities, including the 26 state capitals, and will pass through around 500 towns, with 300 hosting the relay and another 200 watching the convoy go by. The relay will reach an estimated 90 per cent of Brazil’s population and will cover 20,000 km of the country by road and 16,000km by air over the north and mid-west.
Approximately 12,000 torchbearers will carry the torch for roughly 200 meters each, before passing the Olympic flame on to the next torchbearer. The relay will conclude on 5 August when the last torchbearer will light the Olympic cauldron during the Rio 2016 Opening Ceremony at the Maracanã Stadium.

La antorcha será encendida en la ciudad griega de Olimpia, la cuna de los Juegos Olímpicos antiguos, el 21 de abril el año 2016 antes de ser entregado a los organizadores de Río 2016 el 27 de Abril después de un recorrido por Grecia.
La llama olímpica visitará 83 ciudades, incluyendo las 26 capitales de los estados, y pasará a través de alrededor de 500 pueblos, con 300 de alojamiento del relé y otros 200 viendo el convoy pasar. El relé alcanzará aproximadamente el 90 por ciento de la población de Brasil y cubrirá 20.000 kilometros del país por carretera y 16.000 kilometros por aire sobre el norte y centro-oeste.
Aproximadamente 12.000 portadores de la antorcha llevarán la antorcha de aproximadamente 200 metros cada una, antes de pasar la llama olímpica al siguiente portador de la antorcha. El relé concluirá el 5 de agosto, cuando el último portador de la antorcha encienda el pebetero olímpico durante la ceremonia de apertura Río 2016 en el estadio de Maracaná.
