Yesterday, I had the distinct honour of accompanying Her Excellency Vice-President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on a working visit to Reroy Cables Company in Tema.
During an engaging interaction with management, H.E. praised the ground-breaking success of CEO Kate Quartey-Papafio - a true trailblazer leading a women-headed business in a sector where women’s leadership is rare. The Vice-President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting industrial growth and recognized that women’s success in technical fields like cable manufacturing is vital to Ghana’s development.

Tema bid farewell to one of our most distinguished residents and medical legends, Dr. Edward Atter Narh, a man whose life and work brought healing, hope and dignity to many.
Together with his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Afua Narh, he established Narh-Bita Hospital, and the Narh-Bita College which have grown to become a trusted haven and partner in the healthcare ecosystem for countless residents of Tema and beyond.
Dr. Narh’s impact went far beyond medical care. He touched lives through compassion, generosity and service, supporting people in need, paying school fees, and extending kindness to many families in difficult moments.
Tema has lost a great man, a visionary health professional, and a true humanitarian whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.
The Mayor of Tema joined his family and thousands from our City and beyond to eulogize and celebrate his elevation to the council of ancestors.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.

I joined the World Menstrual Hygiene Day programme in Tema Newtown, standing with girls and advocating for dignity, education, and access to menstrual hygiene support. Special appreciation to Nii Dromo for using storytelling and advocacy to break the silence around menstruation and empower young girls. Together, we can build a period-friendly Ghana where no girl is left behind.

Today, as we mark World Menstrual Hygiene Day, I had the great privilege of hosting the Elite Ga Ladies for a meaningful discussion on menstrual hygiene, dignity, and the need to support girls with the right information and resources.
As part of their contribution to the celebration, the Elite Ga Ladies donated menstrual pads to my office to support our ongoing distribution to girls across the metropolis. This gesture is deeply appreciated and reflects the kind of partnership we need to ensure that no girl is held back because of her period.
To further observe the day, the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, in collaboration with Pad the Girls Period, a foundation established by Josh Nii Dromo, will host about 800 girls tomorrow at Tema New Town for an important engagement on menstruation and related issues.
As part of the programme, Josh Nii Dromo will premiere his latest movie on the myths surrounding menstruation, an educative piece aimed at breaking silence, correcting misconceptions, and empowering young girls with knowledge.
Menstrual hygiene is not just a women’s issue; it is a public health, education, dignity, and development issue. Together, we must continue to create safe spaces for girls to learn, speak freely, and grow with confidence.
