The Vice-President's pronouncements were made at a forum convened by STAR-Ghana Foundation, a prominent non-profit organization, on the theme "Reimagining Development Financing and Civil Action: Challenges, Opportunities, and the Way Forward". This gathering of CSOs, government officials, youth advocates, traditional leaders, academics, and development partners aimed to strengthen cross-sectoral partnerships and galvanize support for sustainable development.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the precarious nature of relying on external aid, noting that concessional financing is becoming increasingly scarce, public debt is escalating, and the government's fiscal space to address basic needs is rapidly diminishing. In light of these challenges, she stressed the imperative of reimagining development financing and creating an environment conducive to domestic investment and innovation.

In a resonant address, the Director of STAR-Ghana Foundation, Alhaji Ibrahim-Tanko Amidu, echoed the Vice-President's sentiments, emphasizing the dire implications of dwindling international aid for the civil society sector.
