SWIDA Ghana is pleased to announce the official launch of its new project:

EMPOWERHER: Advancing Institutional Strength, Leadership, Protection, and Inclusion for Sustainable Impact

This project is being implemented under the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership (RWV) initiative with support from Plan International Ghana and Global Affairs Canada.

Join us as we officially unveil this transformative initiative aimed at strengthening women’s leadership, promoting gender equality, enhancing protection systems, and advancing the inclusion of women, girls, youth, and persons with disabilities.

SWIDA Ghana’s observation of Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 highlights that menstrual health is a community responsibility, not a women’s issue alone. Engaging boys dismantles stigma early, fostering respect and support within homes and schools. Involving traditional authorities leverages their influence to shift harmful norms and endorse open dialogue, making menstrual health a accepted community priority.

Strong social support networks ensure girls feel safe seeking help, accessing products, and managing menstruation with dignity.

To sustain this progress, we call on government to urgently provide hygiene infrastructure: reliable water, private sanitation facilities, and disposal systems in schools and public spaces. Equally critical is improved coordination among health, education, and local government actors to avoid duplication and reach the most vulnerable. With these commitments, Ghana can advance menstrual equity and keep girls in school and public life.
