From my eleven years of being a father, some of my best moments are the times I do things for the family and get the “daddy is a super-hero” reaction from my daughters. It is same for every father - there is joy in knowing that your children need you. It is even more joyful to actually be present to meet the need. It is this desire to feel needed that motivates the crucial role that fathers play in shaping the identity, values, confidence, and future of their children. Through their guidance, protection, provision, and discipline, fathers leave an indelible imprint on the lives of those entrusted to their care.

Just like mothers mirror God’s love, compassion, providence, and sacrifice, God made fathers to mirror His protective care, faithful provision, wise instruction, loving discipline, and unwavering commitment to His children. God remains the ultimate Father, ever-present, all-knowing, and all-powerful. But He still ordained fatherhood as a sacred vocation through which His nature and purposes could be revealed within the family.
