I had the privilege of representing Access To Basics at the Ghana Philanthropy Conference in Accra, held under the powerful theme: “Repositioning Domestic Resource Mobilization as a Catalyst for Accelerating Development.”

The conference provided valuable insights into strengthening domestic resource mobilization and advancing sustainable, community-centered development in Ghana. It was a great opportunity to engage with leaders and partners working to enhance local ownership and build resilient development systems.

As Access To Basics continues to champion access to education, healthcare, and economic empowerment for women, girls, and underserved communities, these discussions reaffirm the importance of collaboration and innovative financing for long-term impact.

Access To Basics joins the global community in marking the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. As a women-led and youth-led organisation working to uplift underprivileged communities, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights, safety, and dignity of women and girls. Every woman and girl deserves to live free from fear, discrimination, and harm, in their homes, communities, workplaces, and online spaces. We need to speak out, and take action to end all forms of violence against women and girls.
Ending gender-based violence is not the responsibility of a few — it is a collective action of all! As Access To Basics NGO, we continue to promote education, healthcare access, and economic empowerment as pathways to break the cycle of violence.

The Executive Director of Access To Basics, Madam Sarah Ntoh Ashu-Davis, was honoured to represent the organization as a Delegate at the 3rd International Conference on Gender Equality (ICGE) under the theme: “Charting the Next Frontier to Advance Gender Equality in Developing Economies – 30 Years Post Beijing Declaration.”
From 20-22 November 2025, in Accra.

This global gathering provided an important platform to engage with policymakers, development partners, academia, civil society, and fellow advocates who are shaping the next phase of gender equality efforts.
Thirty years after the Beijing Declaration, the conversations reminded us that while progress has been made, persistent gaps continue to affect women and girls—particularly in developing economies.

The discussions highlighted the need to:
✔ Strengthen gender-responsive policies and financing
✔ Expand women’s economic opportunities
✔ Promote inclusive education and healthcare systems
✔ Create collaborative spaces that uplift women and girls at the grassroots level

These insights align deeply with our mission at Access To Basics, a women-led, youth-led organisation dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities. We remain committed to advancing these priorities within the communities we serve.
