Busy On The Go
This isn’t just a car, It’s a symbol of tone powerful moment in history.
Meet the ocean blue 1957 Cadillac 62 Series — gifted to Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, by US President John F. Kennedy.
But here’s what made it truly extraordinary - it was manufactured by General Motors in the USA, then sent all the way to Bulgaria to be bulletproofed, valued at approximately $69,000. This wasn’t just a gift. It was armored diplomacy.
After Nkrumah’s reign, the car vanished — until it was rediscovered in October 2021 by a former staff driver who had served at the Flagstaff House back in 1957. It was retrieved and now sits at the National Museum of Ghana.
Some places don’t just hold history — they breathe it. 🇬🇭
The Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum in Accra is one of those places. Standing before the eternal resting place of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, you can’t help but pause and reflect on the extraordinary legacy of a man who changed the course of an entire continent.
He led Ghana to independence on March 6, 1957 — the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to break free from colonial rule. He championed Pan-Africanism before the world was ready. He built infrastructure, invested in education, and laid the democratic and developmental blueprint for a nation rising from the ashes of colonialism.
Visiting this mausoleum is more than tourism. It’s a pilgrimage. A reminder that democracy and development don’t happen by accident — they are fought for, sacrificed for, and built by people with an unshakable belief in their people’s potential.
Ghana is what it is today, in no small part, because of him. 🕊️✊🏿🌍
