Closed fishing season

A person who engages in fishing during a closed season declared in accordance with this section commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine of not less than $500,000 and not more than $ 2 million in respect of a local industrial or semi-industrial fishing vessel or a foreign fishing vessel.

The Commission may by notice in the Gazette, declare closed seasons, including their duration, for fishing in specified areas of the coastal waters or the riverine system.

Any person found begging and any person wandering or placing himself in any premises or place for the purpose of begging may be arrested by a police officer without warrant and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding fifty new cedis or to imprisonment not exceeding three months or to both.
