Climan
🌿2-16 September 2024 educational visit for students of Ukrainian and Georgian universities was organized at Mykolas Romeris University, Lithuania, as part of the Erasmus+ KA2 project "Synergy of Educational, Scientific, Management and Industrial Components for Climate Management and Climate Change Prevention" / CLIMAN .
🌿The program was focused on climate change and the role of stakeholders in mitigation strategies. The educational program included lectures, seminars, and field research conducted by leading professors and scientists from various countries.
🌿The first week: Urbanism and the climate challenge
🌿The first week began with lectures by Professor Paulo Pereira on global climate change. For several days, students studied the problems of urbanisation and the impact of climate change on coastal zones and tourism. Seminars on changes in landscape in urban areas provoked active discussions. The week culminated in a field trip to Vingis Park, where participants explored the role of green spaces in mitigating climate change.
🌿The second week: In-depth knowledge and practical research
🌿The second week was dedicated to a detailed study of the Sustainable Development Goals and stakeholder participation in climate governance. Of particular importance was the study of the Dzukia National Park, where students were able to appreciate the importance of ecosystem conservation in practice. Lectures on ecosystem services in urban green spaces, as well as workshops on public perception of these issues, broadened the understanding of climate management at the local level.
🌿Over the course of two weeks, students actively participated in workshops, discussions and group projects. The programme culminated in a project presentation where each group presented the results of their research and proposed solutions to ensure sustainable development in the face of climate change.
🌿Results of the programme
Studying in Lithuania has become an important stage in the students' professional development. Lectures by leading experts and participation in practical research not only enhanced their knowledge of climate change, but also taught them how to apply this knowledge in practice. Communication with colleagues from different countries contributed to the understanding of the global nature of climate challenges and the importance of international cooperation.
This course has become not only a source of new knowledge for students, but also an incentive to continue research in the field of sustainable development and climate management.
