Take My Yoga from Mantra Books 14/06/2026

Even God cannot create our wellbeing. That's our experience isn't it?
We have to take our (God-given) responsibility to work with our own body and minds.
Yoga is the science and practice that for over 2000 years has enabled it's students to do just that.
Yoga says, to realise our best-self we must;
1) try - be eager and dedicated, 2) be interested in our own wellbeing , study the self,
3) trust in the Lord (however you understand your 'higher power')

Yoga Sutra 2.1

That sounds reasonable doesn't it? Give it a try, there's nothing to lose except feeling dis-enpowered and stuck.....

Take My Yoga from Mantra Books Take My Yoga connects yoga’s eight major teachings to the call to follow Jesus, exploring how we might do that through yogic wisdom. ...

We're used to thinking of ourselves as "things", in effect lumps of stuff that is "alive".
However, we're much more like PLACES. We're places where the energy of the universe coalesces into 'me'. After a time, that cohesive union dissipates and we 'die'. Except that nothing actually dies of course. The form dissipates but that which caused the coalescing, held it, and gave it "life" remains. That is what we, and everything else is. So look around and be delighted and amazed at all the places 'God' arises and shines.
Have a great week, and enjoy your place!

Can a ship be removed from the sea and put in a bottle? Yes, of course.
Looking behind the bottle, can the waves be removed from the sea and put in a bottle? No! That's because the waves ARE the sea. They cannot be separated.
Many people of faith, encouraged by religion, (it has to be said), worry about their relationship with God. People of no particular faith worry about their lives. That's because they see themselves like a ship-in-a-bottle. STOP!
We are waves - no separation. When we realise this (which is the purpose of the 'spiritual path'), we can stop all such worrying, relax, and truly live our lives.
Right there, that's the "good news".
Don't accept anything less!

"There will come a day when man will wake up from oblivion and will finally understand who he really is".

Giordano Bruno, philosopher, astronomer, Dominican Friar 1548 - 1600. Executed by burning after 8 years in prison by the Church for heresy.

'Lying down on the job"..
In 1967 Thomas Merton wrote a letter to Dom Matthew Fox which concluded;

"I am glad you are working on spiritual theology. The prejudice in some Catholic quarters against mysticism is a bit strange, when outside the Church there is such an intense and ill regulated hunger for and curiosity about spiritual experience. I do think we are lying down on the job when we leave others to investigate mysticism while we concentrate on more "practical" things. What people want of us, after all, is the way to God".

Nearly 60 years later, that hunger & curiosity has grown. Unfortunately there is still much "lying down on the job".

A short notice to say that unfortunately GoDaddy, my website provider, are experiencing problems with the SSL certificate for my website (not my fault - a technical error) which means The Boundless Way website can't be accessed😔
Temporary problem, hopefully sort it tomorrow, Monday.

I often get asked how an Christian priest in the Anglican tradition can hold Christian faith, Yoga, and Zen wisdom together. Well, I don't. They hold me together..... Over many years (40+) here are some of the Masters of these traditions that inspire me, and continue to do so. My name for what they have taught me is The Boundless Way, because I can't think of a better way to describe it.
The list is not exhaustive, literally typed off the top of my head in five minutes. I could add many more.....
My deepest gratitude to these enlightened ones.. 🙏

You probably have your own list in your head. If you have time, quickly write it down then at some point today light a candle,
some incense, and quietly read each name with reverence and gratitude. It's a lovely thing to do.

The brilliant mathematician, philosopher and Christian mystic Beatrice Bruteau writes...

"begin with considering that God is a community"
(from her fabulous book "Gods Ecstasy")

Note: not male, not a "Father", not a being of any particular kind, not a divine "thing' that has personal thoughts, likes, dislikes, a home (called 'heaven'), or even one 'person' in a three-person communion.

In Christianity we call this community "Trinity", which doesn't mean "three" in a mathematical sense, but the third possibility in grammatical structure (not maths).... the singular, the dual, the plural. "Tri" in language points to this third possibility -
'plural'.

This is such good news! We are all included in "God".
As Fr Richard Rohr explores in his books Everything Belongs, The Universal Christ, and The Divine Dance.

Enjoy belonging, unconditionally !
