Windsor Community Poppy Project
21/07/2026
Could your team help Windsor remember?
This autumn, thousands of handmade poppies created by local schools, care homes, community groups and residents will transform Windsor Parish Church into a powerful act of remembrance.
Now we’re looking for one final piece of the puzzle.
We’re seeking a rope access or industrial abseiling company to help install the display safely and professionally.
This is more than a sponsorship opportunity. It’s a chance for your team to play a visible role in creating one of Windsor’s most memorable community projects.
In return, we’ll proudly recognise your support through:
• Project website and social media
• Local press coverage
• Sponsor recognition throughout the campaign
• Association with a unique community remembrance initiative
If your business specialises in rope access, high-level banner installation, specialist rigging or working safely at height, we’d love to hear from you.
Please share this post, or tag a company that might be interested.
Together, we can help Windsor remember.

🌺 Fun Fact Friday 🐘
Did you know that elephants are famous for their remarkable memories… and poppies have become one of the world’s most enduring symbols of remembrance?
Scientists have discovered that elephants can recognise family members after decades apart, remember water sources across vast distances and even appear to revisit places where members of their herd have died.
Poppies remind us to remember those we’ve lost. Elephants remind us that remembering matters.
That feels like a rather fitting connection this summer, as Craft Coop Windsor is proud to be supporting two wonderful community projects.
Alongside the Windsor Community Poppy Project, we’re also hosting two beautiful elephants as part of Trunks across the Thames, the Thames Hospice art trail - designed by Windsor Learning Partnership and the Royal School, celebrating creativity, community and togetherness.
Whether you’re making a poppy or following the elephant trail, every small act helps tell a bigger community story.
Which elephant will you discover first? 🐘❤️🌺

🌺 Fun Fact Friday 🌺
With Windsor feeling the heat this week, here’s a little inspiration from southern Spain…
Over the last few years, towns across Andalucía have been replacing plastic shade sails with enormous hand-crocheted canopies, many made from recycled yarn and fabric.
Known as Urbanismo del Crochet (Crochet Urbanism), these colourful installations have become a real symbol of community creativity. As well as reducing plastic waste, some towns have reported temperatures beneath the canopies being around 5% cooler during the hottest months.
Proof that a few balls of yarn, plenty of willing hands and a shared purpose can transform an ordinary street into something both beautiful and practical.
So here’s a question…
Once we’ve reached our goal of 10,000 handmade poppies, should Windsor take on its next community yarn challenge?
A handmade summer canopy in the town centre… who’s in? 🌺
