The summer time is when fleas like to breed in warm conditions but this problem can easily be found in a domestic home carpet.

𝙃𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩 – 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙖 𝙝𝙤𝙢𝙚:
Fleas can live on any warm-blooded animals but can also be found living on humans and domestic animals. When fleas are not feeding on a host, they are mainly active in communal rooms where pets sleep. Fleas and eggs can be usually found in soft furnishings and carpets, pet bedding, clothes and upholstery furniture.

𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙤𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙨𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧:
Perfect temperatures for fleas is between 21-29⁰C in the UK, more common during the summer months around June to August. Humidity for fleas is also quite important, the moisture is needed for their eggs to hatch.

𝙇𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜::
The average lifecycle for fleas is in four stages: egg, larva, pupa and imago (adult). Depending on changing atmospheric conditions the stages can take between two weeks and up to eight months to finally complete the process.

𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙨:

𝙋𝙚𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚 - apply approved flea products to your pet on a regular basis.

𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙨 - when returning home, always brush out your pet’s fur and wipe or remove footwear.

𝙑𝙖𝙘𝙪𝙪𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 - Regular vacuum the carpet areas, rugs and where your pet frequents, especially around any upholstery and furniture that is used by your pet.

𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙧𝙞𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨:
Before using any approved relevant insecticide treatment for your carpets, clear floor space to ensure that treatment is as thorough as possible. Vacuuming all carpet areas helps to remove any eggs, pupae larvae and adult fleas. The vibration of the vacuum cleaner machine can also help stimulate adults to hatch from their cocoon stage, thus making it easier to destroy with flea insecticides.
This will also help greatly improve the chance of penetrating down to the base of the carpet fibres where fleas usually live and breed.
