🦋 Summer Butterflies & Birthday Wishes 🦋

Summer celebrations are all about spending time with friends and family, enjoying sunshine, laughter, and making special memories. Rachel drew inspiration from those happy occasions to create this bright and uplifting birthday card using the fabulous Fly High and Birthday Wishes stamp sets, together with the Colour Blind stencil.

The vibrant background combines beautiful shades of violet and raspberry, while the textured stencil design adds depth and interest. Soft blue butterflies flutter across the card, bringing a sense of movement and joy, while sparkling gems add the perfect finishing touch.

🦋 [Process] ⬇️

1️⃣ Create a colourful background using Distress Spray Stains in Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry.

2️⃣ Stamp and heat emboss words from the Fly High stamp set to add subtle background detail.

3️⃣ Blend Picked Raspberry Distress Ink around the edges for definition.

4️⃣ Apply Distress Opaque Grit Paste through the Colour Blind stencil and leave to dry.

5️⃣ Add splatters of Distress Spritz and white ink for extra texture and interest.

6️⃣ Stamp, emboss, colour and fussy cut the butterflies, then add a touch of sparkle with a glitter pen.

7️⃣ Stamp and heat emboss the birthday sentiment onto black card and cut it out.

8️⃣ Assemble the card using foam pads for dimension and finish with plenty of sparkly gems.

Rachel loves the cheerful energy this design brings and how the butterflies seem to dance across the page.

✨ Moonlit Dreams & Magical Swings ✨

Shirley created this enchanting card using the brand new Carefree Days stamp set, combining gelli printing, stamping and stencilling to create a beautiful moonlit scene.

[Process] ⬇️

1️⃣ Distress Paints were applied to a gelli plate, with lighter blues blended into the top right corner and black concentrated around the bottom left.

2️⃣ The print was pulled to create a dreamy nighttime background with natural light and shadow.

3️⃣ The girl on the swing and branch images were stamped and heat embossed to create the focal point.

4️⃣ Cosmic Shimmer Gold Pearl Texture Paste was applied through the Starry Nights stencil.

5️⃣ The moon was positioned in the top right corner, while the sparkling star trail was aligned with the swing to create movement and guide the eye across the design.

The combination of the silhouette image, shimmering texture paste and rich gelli printed background brings this magical nighttime scene to life. 🌙💙

Did you catch Mark on HobbyMaker TV earlier this week showcasing the fabulous new Hopes and Dreams collection? Rachel certainly did, and for this week’s DT project she couldn’t wait to get creative with the beautiful Catch a Star stamp set.

Featuring strong silhouette images, delicate butterflies, sparkling stars and a dreamy ink-splattered background, this handmade tag is the perfect way to send a little encouragement to someone special. ✨

[Process] ⬇️

1. Create the background
• Spray a white card tag with Picked Raspberry and Ripe Persimmon Distress Spray Stains.
• Mist with water to help the colours blend and move across the surface.
• Stamp the star cluster image from the Catch a Star stamp set randomly across the tag using Picked Raspberry and Ripe Persimmon Distress Ink.
• Blend the same inks around the edges of the tag for added depth.
• Finish with splatters of Fossilized Amber Distress Spritz and white ink.

2. Add the focal images
• Stamp the silhouette figures and butterflies directly onto the background using Versafine Clair Nocturne ink.
• Heat emboss with WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder for a rich, shiny finish.
• Stamp the star images with Versamark and heat emboss using WOW Metallic Gold Rich Embossing Powder.

3. Create the sentiment
• Stamp the sentiment onto black card using Versamark ink.
• Heat emboss with WOW Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder.
• Carefully fussy cut around the words.

4. Assemble the tag
• Mount the finished tag onto black card to frame the design.
• Adhere the sentiment with acrylic glue.
• Add a few tiny sparkly gems for extra detail.
• Thread a bright ribbon through the top to complete the project.

💡 Top Tip: Ground the stamped figures by blending a slightly darker shade of Distress Ink beneath them. This simple technique helps anchor the images and adds depth to the finished design.
