🏏 What a cracking night out with Explorers playing cricket and ultimate frisbee 🥏

A great night considering it was very wet when we met!

👀 Take a look back with us at the final night of our winter term.

❄️ We joined up with kinrosscurling for a night on the ice. Explorers & Leaders slid into action with some stretching to get warmed up, then split into groups to get some game time and top class coaching from the fantastic in house instructors.

What a great night in a stunning facility! 🥌

This week at Explorers we kicked off a 3 part program which would see the Unit develop essential skills of Navigation, Firelighting & lightweight styled cooking on Trangia stoves.

🗺️ With some Explorers heading away on their DOE expedition they were in safe hands with leader Gav to help guide them on developing their map reading skills.

🍳 Trangia stoves are very versatile - and a life saver when the weather isn’t on your side but it’s all about method and temperature control. Leaders Snab and Stewart are “seasoned” pro’s when it comes to using these impressive bits of kit. After a quick walkthrough of their stoves the Explorers pulled together a tasty full breakfast, including bacon rolls and pancakes 🥞

🔥 Let’s be honest. What scout doesn’t love playing with fire?! Things heated up as some of the unit spent the night putting their fire lighting skills to the test in a 3 part challenge .

💥 🔫 The best part of being an Explorer is testing out all the important new kit that’s bought for Scottish Events and Camps and last night didn’t disappoint 🎯 💥

Shan, Anna and Ryan are leaving us over the course of the next few weeks making this their last camp. Hopefully they'll stay in touch and all enjoy their scouting career going forward!

13 Explorers and 2 leaders out camping this weekend.
Subzero last night and wet most of the time but seems they're all enjoying themselves anyway!
Cooking on trangias in pairs for breakfast and dinner, walking out to see the Praying Hands of Mary, fire in the rain.
Hopefully bedtime soon the 2 leaders are burst!

Wednesday night was a Burns evening of sorts. Rather than doing a traditional burns supper we decided to do haggis bon bons and macaroon (not macarons!). Bon bons were well prepared and delivered, tasting excellent. The macaroon needs more work, we'll maybe try them again another night.
The evening was rounded off with some irnbru, tasting of the bon bons and an address to the haggis from Lewis. Hopefully I can add it in the comments as I can't do it here!
