Over the last few days we’ve been hard at work up on The Garrison on behalf of the Duchy of Cornwall, clearing storm-damaged trees across the site.

Several large pine trees have remained dangerously hung up close to the tennis courts, tracks and football changing rooms, creating ongoing safety risks.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but we’re steadily making progress and working through the site as safely and efficiently as possible 🌲🫡

A big thank you to everyone involved for the continued effort and support.

Back over on the islands continuing storm recovery and residential tree management works following this winter’s severe weather on behalf of the Duchy of Cornwall.

Maybe that's true. But I think success usually comes from backing yourself, working hard and staying committed to your goals.

When I left the British Army, I wanted the freedom to build my own future and follow the opportunities that genuinely excited me.

Today, that means running Veteran Tree Surgeons, delivering arboriculture and estate & land management services, while also pursuing my passion for leading overseas expeditions.

This week, I'm in Crete leading an international expedition raising vital funds for Walking With The Wounded.

It's a combination that probably wasn't in the plan when I left the Army, but it's one I'm incredibly grateful for.

I left the British Army after 19 years of Regular and Reserve service in August 2023.

In August 2024, I launched Veteran Tree Surgeons with one clear ambition: to become self-employed and embrace both the freedom and responsibility that comes with building a business from the ground up.

I’ve always been ambitious, and when I set myself a goal, I commit fully to making it happen.

At the start, the goal was simple: “run a successful business.”
Looking back now, that was incredibly vague — but perhaps that’s what made the journey so exciting.

I have countless targets in mind for Veteran Tree Surgeons, but even so, the business has already surpassed where I expected it to be at this stage.

As I write this on my way back from Jersey in the Channel Islands, Veteran Tree Surgeons is delivering a range of estate management contracts across the island, with further projects planned later this year in Guernsey and Alderney.

Despite that growth, one target will never leave my focus: continuing to provide a premium service for both existing and new clients across West Lancashire and the surrounding areas.

We carried out a carefully considered crown reduction—retaining the tree’s natural form while bringing it back into proportion with its environment. Just as importantly, the work was timed and executed in line with the tree’s natural growth cycle, ensuring we support its long-term health rather than compromise it.
