WASPI women, born in the 1950s, are demanding compensation after the state pension age was raised without proper notice, disrupting their retirement plans. Victoria Harris, co-founder of The Curve Platform, says they "absolutely" deserve compensation for the hardship they've faced, many falling into poverty or being forced to keep working. While a report suggests payouts between £1,000 and £2,950, some campaigners are calling for £10,000 or more. Harris urges the government to engage in meaningful talks to find a fair solution.

📢 **WASPI Campaign Update: A Step Forward in the Fight for Fair Compensation!** 💪

The Women Against State Pension Inequality (WASPI) campaign has been fighting for nearly 10 years for fair compensation for 3.8 million women affected by changes to the State Pension age.

For the first time, WASPI Chair Angela Madden met with the new Pensions Minister, Emma Reynolds, to discuss the issue. The meeting was private but positive, with the Minister listening closely to their concerns.

WASPI is pushing for better compensation than what’s currently being offered, as many women have faced financial losses due to the changes. The campaign continues, and they’re determined to get justice for all affected women.

Millions of women impacted by the State Pension age rise from 60 to 65 may now be offered access to a means-tested hardship fund instead of the £2,950 compensation they’ve been seeking. Labor, facing a £22 billion financial gap, hasn’t set aside funds for compensation, making a quick resolution unlikely. The WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) group continues to fight for justice, calling for fair compensation for women born in the 1950s.

Experts suggest a hardship fund could be a potential solution, though only those who can prove financial hardship may benefit. This follows changes introduced by the 1995 and 2011 Pension Acts, affecting around 3.8 million women.

The WASPI campaigners are hopeful about a new government committee that could support their fight for compensation. They are asking for redress for women born in the 1950s who were affected when the state pension age was increased from 60 to 65.

The Parliamentary Ombudsman found that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) didn’t inform these women properly and suggested compensation between £1,000 and £2,950. The decision on payouts and how they will be handled is now up to the Government.

Angela Madden from WASPI is hopeful that the new Work and Pensions Committee, especially if Debbie Abrahams becomes its chair, will continue to support their cause. The committee might be set up by late October and could start work in November.

WASPI will also be active at the Labour and Liberal Democrat party conferences in September and October, urging MPs to support their cause.
