A deep, velvety, rich and romantic backdrop for a Zahra’s nikkah event.
I started out event styling as a self-taught creative, pretty much moulding my work around client vision. Event by event, I gradually learnt and revisited my own preferred style of aesthetic- and leaning more into that.
Interestingly, I have found a lot of you also leaning into that with me. Clients who once hooked me for their birthdays are now coming back as brides and booking in for their wedding events 🥺
Lately, I’ve been more intentional with the work that I take on. It’s less about trying to do everything, and it’s more about creating decor that resonates with me. I find that I’m drawn to styling event’s that make you feel something. Creating decor that is somewhere between desi heritage and a modern western feel.
This deep red backdrop was one of those.
Zahra kept it simple- ‘no stage seating please’ she said. ‘I want a beautiful backdrop where we can take our photographs, and for the most part, I really want to be just mingling amongst the guests’.
So this decor was built around that.
Deep maroon draping to contrast her blush outfit, fresh florals to bring some softness to the display, chandelier’s for opulence - and ofcourse some signature candlelight details (at this point becoming a staple in my work!)
If you feel like you’re aligned with the way that I style- I’d love for you to get in touch so can design a bespoke event, tailored to how you want your event to feel- because once the day is gone and done, the memory of how it felt that’s all we’re left with right?

One for Mariam’s girls night. A fun, colourful and quirky event for one of her last celebratory events before her Baraat.
I initially created Mariam’s graduation decor, fast forward a few years and we now move onto her actual wedding - what a full circle moment! Having got to know her over the years, and being given creative reign of the decor, I designed this event to reflect what I know Mariam’s personality to be- vibrant and full of warmth.
The colours were chosen to complement the outfit, the little quirks were incorporated to give the event a modern and contemporary edge to what we usually associate to traditional mehndi decor.
Booking with .mcr gives you a decor experience that includes by default, all the meticulous details that elevate the design experience for decor that guests feel compelled to say- ‘that felt refreshingly different’✨

One of the things I love most about the work that I do is when clients come back as their milestones unfold.
This display was designed for (who was) a new client hosting a baby shower last month- a soft, layered setup celebrating the soon to be arrival of the first baby of their family.
Update: Baby Ayra has since arrived, I’ve already created another display to welcome her into the world, and next week we’ll be creating another dreamy display and a new, and slightly different set up concept for her aqiqah ceremony 🥰 hint- 🍓✨
These close-up shots capture some of the intricate details from the event-the textures, florals and styling and all the beautiful elements that compelled them return back as incredibly invaluable repeat clients 🤍✨🫶🏼
