Big congratulations to Andy Burnham on becoming Prime Minister, and to Lucy Powell MP on her appointment as Education Secretary.

Both have long records of supporting comprehensive education and questioning academic selection. Andy Burnham has consistently argued that education should bring children from all backgrounds together, while Lucy Powell has been a longstanding advocate for fair admissions and a strong critic of grammar school expansion.

Comprehensive Future looks forward to working constructively with the new government to make the case for a fairer admissions system that gives every child the best chance to succeed.
