Bit of a story from yesterday. A flat in SW18 with a UPVC door that had been "iffy" for nearly 2 years. The cylinder finally let go in last week's rain.
Took about 40 minutes to swap in an anti-snap properly. Customer asked why no one had told her this was a 15-minute fix rather than a "new door needed" job.
Honestly, anyone who's ever quoted you a new door for a stiff lock probably never bothered to check the cylinder. It's the most common failure point on UPVC and the cheapest part on the whole assembly.
