Addressing Acoustic Challenges in West London's Luxury Development for Berkeley Homes

The Challenge

In a newly constructed high-end development in West London, a problem arose within the stairwells and stud walls. Standard construction procedures had failed to meet the required Decibel (DB) ratings, posing a significant issue for the project.

The Solution

To resolve this challenge, we opted for a retrofit approach. We introduced polyurethane acoustic foam by injecting it into the step curvature at quarter-meter intervals, utilising 5mm diameter holes. The same treatment was applied to the stud walls. Once the installation was complete, we skillfully restored the holes, leaving the structure undisturbed. This entire process was accomplished within a single day, ensuring minimal disruption to the overall project timeline.
