I realised something about myself today...

Now look, there aren't many revelations along my journey. I spend most days doing the same things and making little changes in order to maximise my potential and utilise my time well.

But every now and then I find out something about myself because, lets be honest, there are always lessons around us but reflection seems to always bring these lessons to light.

I usually train adults and I am not in the business of telling people off because we are all grown after all but recently I have started doing a class for primary school students. Originally my plan was to find a way for them to stay fit but add some fun into it and on day 1 my plan went to absolute crap.

Instead what my lesson here was to deal with the most difficult humans to try put into order...Do i get frustrated? I think that is an understatement but the real lesson for me is developing the ability to be firm in my instruction, demonstrate my authority (most times not to their liking) but also switching that off in an instant and leading a fun session where the kids would want to return, and lately have been enjoying it more and more.

I used to dread doing these sessions but it has developed another skill in me which I may have to call onto in the future so I guess we can all do things we may not like in the start and find ways for it to work. Take the lesson from that and build on it more...who knows what else you can learn or even the where your development may take you.

I hope this clears your mind.

I have come to believe that knowing how to bounce back from a huge obstacle is more important than the fact that the obstacle took place and you did not stop it. These are where our lessons are and if we choose to ignore them then we will continue to make the same mistakes...THAT is how you end up in an unhealthy loop.

I remember one month (not too long ago). I had some time off work. I had around £8 in my bank account which meant no food. I also did not have enough money to pay for a parking permit so I was constantly looking outside to check my car for tickets (avoiding those traffic wardens). On top of that my phone bill was not paid and the services cut off...and yes, you guessed it (or you didn't) My car was due for an MOT and some new tyres.

If you would ask me how I would have reacted about a year before that then I would have told you that I would blame the world and wonder why all these bad things happen to me. 'WHY ME?!' The amount of times I have told myself that in the past.

This time though I understood it was all my fault and had seeked out alternatives already. Prepared for the worst possibilities so I can do the most important thing and that is to solve the problem.

Do not panic, find what works for you and seek out solutions and not problems. There's no development in complaining.

I hope this clears your mind.

Always do what works for you...

I know in my previous post i mentioned the importance of coming out of your comfort zone but it is only by doing so that you will discover what is best for you. Trial and error is important. It is only there that you will discover what works and what does not. Allow yourself to fail...

I started a consistent run in the gym around 8-9 months ago. People may call it genetics but it could not be done without the hard work. I completely changed my habits and my physique. But do you think I am doing the same things that I was doing when I started all them months ago? If you do then you'd be kidding yourself.

On a journey of consistency there are many lessons that will be thrown at you and those lessons are the opportunity for growth. To ignore those is to ignore you mere existance as its the thing that propels you to that next level that you chase.

I have changed diets, exercises, intensity levels, amount of sleep. I have tried out different supplements and wanted to get to a point where what I was doing was both positive for my growth and my health. I may not be doing what the next man is but thats because he is doing what works for him. I do not want to be a body builder or want to neccesarily always be right. I instead want to look after my body and get things wrong in order to find the right answers for others because as a trainer I believe that is our job. When you have anybodys dreams or aims to help them achieve I believe that is your job.

I hope this clears your mind. And a happy sunday!
