Just a little reminder. Whatever you're feeling, know that there are other girls around you feeling the same way.

Tips to deal with gym intimidation

⭐️Is your fear of the gym stopping you reaching your goals? ⭐️

It’s not easy. It’s a jungle if new heavy machinery, loud music, lots of new people, often beautiful people walking around half naked making you feel even more uncomfortable.

Ive been there.
✅ I’ve been in a squat rack and let the bar fall in top of me. As in, I was on my knees with a barbell in top of me. It was so loud. I was mortified. Jaysus.
✅ I’ve been so weak on bench press that I’ve let the bar fall in me and some guy had to come take it off me... I’m pretty sure it was an empty bar.
✅ I’ve been running on the treadmill and my phone has flew out of my bra, onto the treadmill and flew backwards to the guy behind me on an exercise bike.
✅ I’ve gone to the gym with a hole in the bum of my leggings the size of a football and done an entire leg day before noticing. Seriously. I’m still dying.

This doesn’t just apply to the gym. It could be a team you want to join, a club, new class... whatever it is. You got this. Try some of these tips and they might help ease you in 💜

⭐️ Exercise and Mental Health ⭐️
I think we all know that when we exercise our mood tends to improve, but did you know that this has been proven time and time again in scientific literature?
Not only does exercise improve our general mood but it can actually be prescribed as a treatment for clinical depression and anxiety (offen in conjunction with medication).
Both resistance training and aerobic training have been found to be beneficial, as well as both low, moderate and even high intensity.
If you are suffering from mental health issues, I know that it can be a time of low motivation and self esteem. Mental health problems can cause tiredness and the last thing you want to do is go and exercise. However, if you can take it slow, go for a walk, a swim, cycle, lift some weights, dance, or find any movement that is bearable, please try it. It can make improvements in all areas of your life 💜

The answer is

TRUE!

Unfortunately lots of us avoid exercising when we have our periods - which is understandable if you’re feeling tired, cranky, have bad cramps, and a sweaty pad or uncomfortable tampon.

HOWEVER! Did you know that exercising whilst having your period can help to ease cramps and bloating, improve mood, and even reduce feeling tired.

It’s important to find movement that you enjoy and doesn’t make you feel worse. Try a walk, light cardio exercise, strength training or some yoga.

Also, period pants or menstrual cups can be more comfortable when exercising during your period!

The biggest congratulations to some of HERizon’s incredible activity mentors on graduating this week. Words can’t describe how instrumental these gals were (those in the photo and missing!) in this initiative and I for one am so excited to see what they do on their next adventures 😍
