Something worth sharing today.
A television advert for Pure Cremation, a-direct cremation company has been banned by the Advertising Standards Association (ASA), for implying a level of service that wasn’t actually included in the plan.
Families making funeral decisions are doing so at one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. That makes clear, honest communication more important here, than almost anywhere else.

Octopus legacy is supporting grieving dads this Father’s Day.
Father’s Day can be a pretty rough for those who are grieving our dads. Which is why Octopus Legacy are setting up London’s first wind phone this week.
When: Thursday 18th June, 8am - 7pm

What is a wind phone?
A wind phone is a disconnected phone that is often used as a space to speak to someone who has died, or say the things that are difficult to say out loud.
About the campaign:
Father’s Day and the run-up to it can feel like an exclusive event you haven’t been invited to, and it can feel like there’s nowhere to put how you’re feeling. Octopus Legacy wanted to build somewhere you can go. A space to be heard, to talk to your dad, and to be part of the day.
They’d love to invite you along if it feels like it might resonate.
Three days at NFE and Olly has been a star helping. Set-up, sales, charm offensive on potential trade partners—the lot.
He’s in the middle of a business degree at Reading, and watching him talk total strangers through what we do, with more confidence than I had at twice his age, gave me a pretty good feeling about where that’s heading.
Massively proud parent moment(obviously), but also just grateful.

If you have been thinking about turning the cremated ashes of a family member or beloved pet into stone-like pebbles…. but then not sure what you’d do with them all - read on!
Over the next few weeks we shall be researching and trying out a few ‘pebble ideas’ so you don’t have to!
To kick us off - here is a simple and easy idea fresh from our garden this morning.
We have our pet ‘Sky’, in many ash-into stone pebbles as he was a large part of our Afterstone development process to create the perfect pebble. They aren’t all perfect and they are various sizes, but I love them all the same.
Come summer our garden finally flourishes. I’m not a gardener but we seem to do ok with roses randomly.
Come late May our ‘Lovestruck ROTY floribunda roses’ go on hyperdrive, providing enough to enjoy in the garden and as cut flowers.
A vase of roses are the beautiful backdrop to our Afterstone pebbles. The red and the white complimenting each other perfectly. Sitting happily on our kitchen island where I can remember him each day as I see it.
That’s the thing about our pebbles. They don’t need a special place. They just live where you live — on a windowsill, a shelf, a bedside table or in my case - the kitchen!

Iris has been keeping a close eye on the Afterstone studio this week — and honestly, her standards are impeccable. She’s a blue whippet, in case you were wondering and my favourite shadow.
Thanks to some brilliant feedback from the lovely people we met at Bicton last week, we’ve made two things happen that customers have been asking for:
You can now order a solo engraved pebble from £122 — just one, beautifully made, carrying a name and date. And we will be expanding engraving out to the rest of our ash-into-stone pieces, so the person — or pet — inside it is unmistakably them.
The engraving depth is the perfect level - you have the name but the tactile smoothness of the pebble surface remains - no rough engraving edges.
BUSTER. POPS. Whoever your ash stone is — they deserve to be named.
