Jasper the Chocolate Ragdoll
Co operative care is when you work with your pet into being voluntary participants instead of needing to force them.
Storm is reactive at times to being handled around the face and feet, and we have struggled getting him to take meds unless we hide it well enough with a lot and lot of treats (which sometimes gave him the 💩😭🤦🏽♀️) or restrain him with towels and a cone which has caused both of us injuries, frustration and stress. 😿
Now storm needs meds twice daily it was definitely time to start training this properly but the humans been super busy and previously he only took meds for occasional vet visits.
So far it’s been day 4 and he’s taking to it so well! 😻And he’s coming up to the blanket and staying more often too! It’s never too late to start building trust and changing the experience for both you and your pet🥹
We had our first incident a few weeks ago now when my harness snapped on a walk🙀
My recall is reliable, I have an emergency stop command and I’m not easily spooked. However that doesn’t mean nothing could happen!
Thankfully we have been incredibly fortunate to be working with and that gave my human an extra sense of security should anything happen and I got lost or spooked.
