Northgate Street Road Closure.

Great to receive a very quick and positive response from Ben Reed to our suggestion of implementing much clearer signage during the Northgate Street closure.
Ben has contacted Highways and requested specific signage that will state that businesses are open and accessible from Long Street.

Making it clear that local businesses are “open as usual” is vital. It’s a simple but important step that helps local businesses and their customers.

Devizes Area Neighbourhood Development Plan

Devizes Town Council, together with Bishops Cannings Parish Council and Rowde Parish Council, is developing the Devizes Area Neighbourhood Development Plan (DANDP) to replace the extant neighbourhood plan of 2015.

The plan is prepared for and with the communities of Devizes, Bishops Cannings Parish and Rowde Parish to set planning policies for:

Meet local housing needs,
Protecting and enhancing community infrastructure,
Delivering sustainable transport,
Supporting a vibrant local economy and town centre,
Protecting and enhancing the local environment.

The DANDP belongs to the community representing the needs and views of the community. Later this year (2026) there will be a formal public consultation on the draft plan. In the meantime, please help shape the DANDP by taking this survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3BNKB7W

Devizes Town Council is pleased to announce the installation of new Speed Indicator Displays (SIDs) in Devizes..

Speed Indicator Displays are a proven way to improve road safety. By giving drivers instant feedback on their speed, SIDs help raise awareness, encourage safer driving habits, and reduce instances of speeding.

Two SIDs will be rotating between four locations on Nursteed Road, London Road, and Bath Road. This flexible approach allows us to monitor and respond to traffic patterns across key areas of the town. The first SID has today been installed on Nursteed Road.

Benefits to our community include:
• Improved safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users
• Increased driver awareness
• Support for traffic calming efforts
• Valuable data to help inform future road safety decisions

This initiative is part of Devizes Town Council’s ongoing commitment to creating safer, more welcoming streets for everyone.

Thank you for helping keep Devizes safe.
