We were approached by City Hospice a few months ago to see if we would share Caitriona's story as part of their 'Light up a Life' Christmas fund raising campaign. I did not even have to think about it, as Caitriona (Cat) lit up our lives every single day.

Everyone who was lucky enough to be her friend, be involved in her care, or meet her said the same, they will ‘never forget her smile’ and ‘she always made everyone feel happy’. She was a truly inspirational person, the way she dealt with a very cruel and life changing illness. She lived a very full and happy life.

I make no apology for the blatant appeal, I hope many who knew and loved Caitriona will donate either to this cause or your local Hospice. We used Ty Hafan, Douglas House and then City Hospice during Caitriona's life, we have met so many truly extraordinary people working and caring for the whole family.

Most families will be touched by cancer and other terminal illnesses, please if you are in that situation do not hesitate to take the help you are offered. We have always been treated with kindness, respect and total support. Hospices rely on donations but what a difference they made to our lives when we need it most.

This year I will not be sending Christmas cards but will donate here instead, to help other families get the support we so valued.

Last word from Caitriona - she was always telling everyone to 'keep smiling' and 'be happy'. Much harder without her but she is with us every day.😀🥰😻
