This customer was an emergency call out due to the upstairs lighting circuit tripping. After conducting some fault finding I identified the issue was on the upstairs bathroom lighting circuit. Just check the wire out on the beginning of the video 😮 😱😱 Thankfully the RCCB done its job and prevented what could have been a house 🔥 IR and Continuity Test conducted on the remainder of the circuit to ensure all the wiring was in working order. Damaged wiring removed on the night and a return visit to install new cable and the down lights were updated to JCC V50. The down lights offer adequate protection in the bathroom and are also fire rated. Quick stop off for another customer today who informed me that their plug socket wasn’t working. The circuit had been overloaded by using an extension lead with multiple devices plugged into it.

As you can see from the socket being overloaded its caused the bottom right hole on the socket to deform. Just be mindful overloading extension leads can cause sockets to overheat and could lead to a fire 🔥

My advice would be to never overload an extension lead by plugging in appliances that together will exceed the maximum current rating stated for the extension lead.

I’ve arranged to revisit this customer in the future to add a 13 amp spur with additional sockets to cater for their needs. In the meantime a new socket has been installed and the above advice provided ⚡️
